Standardized testing continues to evolve and these changes are creating more opportunities for disadvantaged students. The College Board announced last week that it will eliminate the essay portion of the SAT and move to a digital version of the test held at testing centers with live proctors.
The College Board is also dropping its SAT subject tests as fewer and fewer students take them. When the UC system stopped requiring the subject tests in 2012, hundreds of other colleges followed suit, playing an important role in that trend.
