Julia leads Avalon’s operational strategies and student-program management, guides our team of essay reviewers, and works directly with students as a senior advisor.
As a college advisor, she has guided students toward admission at top institutions including Stanford, MIT, Dartmouth, UC Berkeley, NYU, Boston College, Michigan, and UVA. With nearly 18 years of experience working with youth, and a background in communications, she brings a warm, strategic, and person-centered approach to identifying each student's unique strengths and needs. Her patient, creative, and empathetic style ensures students are comfortable and able to present their most authentic and compelling selves, whether they’re aiming for the Ivy League, a public research university, a STEM degree, or the arts.
Before college advising, Julia spent years in corporate client relations and marketing, following her receipt of a B.A. in Communication Studies & Public Relations from Virginia Tech. Julia loves learning, and routinely expands her knowledge and skillset through research and continuing education. She has received HECA certification, a Strong Interest Inventory assessment profiling certification, and a Youth Mental Health First Aid certification, in addition to taking advantage of numerous continuing education opportunities.
Outside of Avalon, Julia loves spending time with her husband, her two daughters (one of whom is currently navigating the college application process), and their pets. In her free time, you might find her soaking up the sunshine working in her yard, learning something new, or diving into a creative project.
